The Amherst campus of the University of Massachusetts is located in western Massachusetts in a beautiful section of New England known as the Connecticut River Valley. Amherst is approximately two hours west of Boston and three hours northeast of New York City.

By car: Our departent provides different directions, depending on whether you are coming from the North, South, East, or West.

By air: UMass Amherst is most readily accessible from Bradley Airport and Boston's Logan Aiport. Valley Transporter (413-253-1350) provide bus and shuttle service between the campus and these airports, although you will find that a rental car is more convenient.

By bus: Peter Pan Bus Lines (800-237-8747) not only links the campus to Bradley and Logan airports, but also provides service throughout the region.

By train: Amtrak, (800-872-7245) serves Springfield and Amherst. The Vermonter serves Amherst once a day from Washington DC and New York City, through White River Junction, Vermont.
